In an update alongside The Sims 4: Horse Ranch Expansion Pack for The Sims 4, players can finally paint ceilings! After nearly a decade of not being able to change your Sims’ ceilings, we can finally customize them. Luckily, you won’t need the Expansion Pack to do this, just make sure your game is updated. Let’s explain how to paint your ceilings in The Sims 4.

The Sims 4: How to customize ceilings

Once your game is fully updated, you should be able to access this new feature. How you can paint your ceilings in The Sims 4 is through the ‘Floor and Ceiling Patterns’ option in Build Mode. While you’re decorating your Sims’ lot, select that option, which is to the left of the door icon. Here, you’ll be able to edit both your floors and your ceilings.

There are two different ways you can paint ceilings. Not only can you paint them by each tile, but you can also do it per room, if you’re lazy like me. Just select either ‘Ceiling by Tile’ or ‘Ceiling by Room’. You can do an interesting design with different tiles, or just paint each room’s ceiling automatically. Then, pick which ceiling pattern you want, alongside the coloring. Most of these options are just flooring patterns, but there are quite a few brand new ceiling designs with the update.

Once you’ve customized the ceilings to your liking, how can you take a look at them? In Live Mode, press the ‘Tab’ key, which brings you into a camera mode. If you use this mode inside of the house, you’ll be able to get a good look at your new ceilings. This allows you to check if the ceilings you picked match the walls and the flooring. Otherwise, that’s all it takes to paint your ceilings!

The Sims 4: Horse Ranch is available on EA and Steam.
