We hope to see some more Sims 5, aka Project Rene, news at The Game Awards 2022 in December.
Following the playtests of Project Rene, aka Sims 5’s first playtests, it appears that the game has already been cracked and pirated, according to a report by Insider Gaming, which reads: “The hackers have been able to generate access tokens using a playtester Devuno token (which allows them to access the game). These generated tokens will allow anyone access to the game without needing any form of online access or approval from EA. In addition to the replication of the access tokens, the hackers have also shown gameplay of them playing on Peer 2 Peer servers without ever needing to contact EA servers.”
“Project Rene” / Sims 5 Reveal
Lyndsay Pearson, VP of franchise creative for The Sims, revealed the game during a Sims production showcase which can be viewed in full below.
he gameplay was scarce but gave a brief overview of what the game will look like. While interacting with various objects in some kind of Creative Mode, we see that pretty much everything we’ve come to love from The Sims is here. We only saw decorating in this brief video but have been promised that more will come.
One of the biggest things to learn about was that one’s “world” would be accessible and instantly updated across various devices in real-time (similar to cloud storage). This will not only be great for gaming on the go but will be integral in creating a fluid multiplayer experience (something the team is keen on creating).
Sims 5 “Project Rene” Release Date Speculation
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmed release date for Sims 5, but in this article, you’ll find all (if any) information that the developer shared, as well as some speculation from Ginx on when we could see it launch.
Lyndsay only stated that “over the next couple of years,” we would continue to receive updates and alpha footage, with select groups being able to playtest early models of the game itself.
Don’t expect to be playing “Project Rene” anytime soon, but the road to its release will certainly be a hype train you don’t want to miss out on.
Sims 5 “Project Rene” Gameplay & News
Very little is known about “Project Rene” at this time, aside from what was shown in the reveal trailer. The developers, however, are stressing connectivity between players.
Pearson stated that: “With Project Rene, we want to make it easier to work together and share. You can choose to play or create by yourself or with your close friends. It’s entirely your choice. No matter who you may want to play with, we want you to be able to play wherever you want. So this is demonstrating an early technology test
of how you can play this game across supported devices of your choosing. Same experience, different screens.”
