The pack’s gameplay :
Game synopsis:
” Discover the harmony of community living – or the daily dramas – of multifamily lots and become a homeowner in The Sims™ 4 For Rent expansion pack. Experience the hustle and bustle of Tomarang, enjoy unique items at the night market and discover your new Residential Rental lot where your neighbors are closer than ever. You’ll bump into them by the mailbox, rub shoulders with them at neighborly dinners and maybe discover their secrets with a little snooping. If you’re the landlord, you’ll want to make sure that your property’s appraisals stay good! You don’t want to have to deal with a tenant revolt. “
Les Sims 4 A Louer thus introduces a new game system, which should enable you to become a real estate baron. Beware: each party has its own duties: the landlords are responsible for the work and management of the community, while the tenants are responsible for paying the rent and regular cleaning… So you don’t die of mold!
This pack brings a host of new features, including an all-new world inspired bySoutheast Asia, with a strong culture in clothing and decoration, as well as in behavior, landscapes and everyday objects. We also discover a new death, as well as new roles, such as this indiscreet Sims who doesn’t hesitate to break into his neighbors’ homes and blackmail them afterwards…
The trailer also reveals some exciting new features, such as the night market, children’s games like hopscotch and marbles, community events…
Architects should also be delighted: this pack introduces collective housing, where each space can be rented to a Sim. This system can be applied to houses, duplexes, apartments… With the possibility of building your own building, your own apartments, an option sorely lacking in City Life. The official website states that “ players can construct a fully customizable building with multiple dwellings, allowing several Sims families to live on the same plot of land. This possibility is available in ANY habitable The Sims 4 world! ”
In a preview of the pack dedicated to the press, we were able to get a glimpse of all that this expansion brings. This DLC should profoundly change the whole game, as the Season and Growing Together packs were able to do.
The ability to create fully-customized housing lots, in all the game’s worlds, brings almost infinite possibilities for builders, but also for Life mode players. Up to six units can be created per lot, housing eight Sims per unit. A cheat code allows you to increase the number of lots per plot… Use sparingly, however, to avoid destroying your entire backup. Apartments, split-level houses, small detached dwellings on a large plot: let your architect’s imagination run wild!
The rental period and rent are at your discretion, and each lot can have its own features and challenges: this gives players a great deal of freedom, for a variety of gameplays and stories. You can even create your own hotel!
In Life mode, you can only see the lot of the active household: as in City Life, neighboring apartments and spaces appear empty. However, tenants are not invisible! You can see them doing their thing in the shared areas of the grounds, meet them at communal events, see them protesting outside the landlord’s door… Or even discover them in your home, rummaging through your belongings.
Yes, beware of this new personality trait that could make your daily life a living hell… Unless you’ve got it yourself. Nosy Sims can break into people’s homes, find their darkest secrets… And even leave with the TV under their arm, provided they’re also kleptomaniacs. A combination that should yield interesting results. Four other traits and five aspirations complete the potential personalities of your little protégés.
The entire package is inspired by the cities of Southeast Asia: food, furniture, clothing and accessories, architecture: a wide catalog of novelties accompanies Tomarang.
Our review of the game:
Opinion after 10 hours of play.
The For Rent pack brings a breath of fresh air to The Sims 4. This new system can be compared to that of the Seasons pack: the rental and purchase system impacts the whole game, and brings many new possibilities for telling your stories.
We were able to test different aspects of this new pack. First, we explored Tomarang, a magnificent world that we would have liked to have seen a little larger. Not being able to see inside the tiger sanctuary is a little disappointing. However, the world is still very beautiful, and the night market offers some interesting interactions.
Let’s get to the heart of the game: property management and rental. First tip: it’s much simpler to build your entire habitat, then switch to life mode to manage the division of spaces and the setting up of rentals, than to choose a plot of land to rent, and make the modifications afterwards.
That said, after a few minutes of research, managing houses and apartments is very easy to master. It’s sometimes frustrating to prepare specific spaces and not find the perfect tenant for that property, but that’s part of the game!
If you’re planning to manage several properties, be aware that it’s a full-time job: between ghost and insect invasions, broken appliances and tenant revolts, the days can quickly get full.
Thanks to its new system, A Louer should quickly become one of the must-have packs in The Sims 4 saga.
So pack your bags: in December, we’re moving to Tomarang, ready to meet our new neighbors!
