There could be a few reasons you might like to play The Sims 4 offline. Maybe your internet connection isn’t totally stable, maybe EA’s servers are having problems, or maybe you just don’t want to have to play the game with an internet connection. In any case, it’s very possible for you to play The Sims 4 offline.
How to Play The Sims 4 in Offline Mode
There are a few ways to launch The Sims 4 offline. Here we’ll be focusing on just one.
How to Disable Online via The EA App
EA has been phasing out Origin for the EA App, and it’s the more common of the two programs now, so we’ll be focusing on it over Origin.
Open the EA App and click the three small bars at the top left of the app, then click ‘Go offline’.
This will set the program to run without internet access but will still allow you to launch your games, including The Sims 4. The EA App will restart and show a new screen telling you that it couldn’t reach the servers and is trying to reconnect. But it will also allow you to launch The Sims 4 and other games that do not require an internet connection.

This is one way to keep The Sims 4 from updating, as it won’t reconnect even if you close and relaunch the EA App with it set to be offline. To reconnect the game to the internet, you’ll have to click the same three-barred icon at the top left and then click “Go online.”
I prefer to keep my games offline at large, particularly to prevent my mods from breaking after an update, so this is essentially the state my own EA App lives in. Now that you know how to play The Sims 4 offline, check out some of our other The Sims 4 guides here on GameSkinny.
