The Sims 5 Already Has One Obvious Option For a Content Pack

If The Sims 5 is set to receive expansion packs like the games that came before it, there is already one perfect option waiting to be made. Since content packs and expansions have become something of a tradition for The Sims, it would be little surprise for such things to come to The Sims 5 shortly after its release. These expansions could include all kinds of things, from cosmetic items to entirely new features that the expansion will unlock. The Sims 5 is likely to continue the trend, and there are a few ideas worth considering already.

It’s not unfair to expect DLC content in The Sims considering the series’ history. Both The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 saw several updates after release, all offering new features to be added onto the main game. For example, The Sims 3: Ambitions offered some new jobs such as investigator and stylist, as well as new skills, creation options, and even an entirely new town. The Sims features more DLC and expansion options than most series, to the point that it seems like the games are still being made well after release. The Sims 5 is likely to do the same with its own expansions.

The Sims 5 Could Find a Solid Collaboration With Apex Legends

One potentially lucrative idea would be a crossover with one of The Sims‘ fellow EA stars: Apex Legends. Apex Legends is currently in its 17th season, and is one of EA’s biggest running games at the moment. Of course, a team-based battle royale shooter is a world away from The Sims, so the idea of crossing the two over seems like an odd one at first glance. However, the fact that Apex Legends is a major name in the gaming scene makes it a potentially valuable source to draw inspiration from, and one that could be more compatible with The Sims that it may seem at first glance.
A content pack inspired by Apex Legends could be rich with new options for players to experiment with. Creation in The Sims 5 could see an upgrade with Apex Legends-themed cosmetics. While this could include shirts and jackets with logos from the game on them, it could also go much further. Parts of some characters’ outfits that could be added as clothing through such an update, such as Lifeline’s headband or Mirage’s goggles. There could even be new decorations like a statue of robotic competitor Pathfinder. Apex Legends‘ design and characters could have more to offer The Sims then it seems.
Apex Legends being another license wouldn’t be an obstacle, because The Sims has done crossovers before in past games, and The Sims 5 could follow Fortnite‘s lead with another crossover. A prime example would be Mass Effect-themed clothes in The Sims 4, fitting for another of EA’s biggest IPs. A more unusual crossover was Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats from The Sims 3, which introduced several brightly colored, largely candy-themed decorations. Considering these previous collaborations, an Apex Legends content pack doesn’t sound so strange. Considering the game’s enduring popularity, it will likely still be relevant by the time The Sims 5 releases.
Fans should be expecting further content from The Sims 5 post-release, and Apex Legends may be providing some of those features. The developers should focus on how The Sims 5 can improve on past entries, and one way to do so would be through more interesting designs and options for players. Aesthetic choices inspired by Apex Legends could be possibilities for both fans of the game as well as players who are looking for something different for their next Sims household. The Sims 5 may not want to replicate Apex Legends‘ gameplay, but there is a lot that it could gain from a collaboration regardless.
