Sims Stories For Sims Fans

The Sims 5 Can Build its Own Royal Family by Bringing Back a Pair of Eccentric Siblings

The lore and intrigue surrounding families in The Sims is one of the most popular aspects of the series, and while the most popular pre-made families are still established powerhouses like the Goths, The Sims 3 introduced several new families that The Sims 5 needs to expand on. One of the most intriguing new pre-made families are the Winchesters, a pair of siblings who reside in Midnight Hollow and who are more than they appear.

Siblings Cedrick and Odessa appeared in Midnight Hollow, a world available on The Sims 3 store, that’s based on the genre of classic monochrome horror movies. The siblings are anything but normal, and it doesn’t take much digging to figure that out. Their family bio states that they come from a long line of royals but were overthrown in a revolution when the townsfolk felt the pair were too “out there” to be their rulers. They fled to Midnight Hollow, a place where they now feel comfortable enough to be themselves and finally settled down in their new home.

About the Royal Siblings in The Sims 3

Cedrick is the eldest of the siblings and is in the Criminal Career of The Sims, a Thug specifically which clashes with his personal bio that describes him as a “gentleman.” His traits are Insane, Grumpy, Ambitious, Coward, and Mean Spirited, while his favorite music is Kids. Odessa is the younger of the two and is a Campaign Intern in the Political Career. Her traits are Insane, Neurotic, Flirty, Heavy Sleeper, and Ambitious. She shares the same music preferences as her brother, and it’s clear the siblings have a close relationship with each other when the player takes control of their household.

The siblings have the Insane and Ambitious traits, which are both common traits of despot monarchs from both fiction and history. As the siblings are from “a long line of blue-blooded royals,” it’s not so unusual to find insanity appearing within these families, whether fictional or historical. Some fans have gone so far as to draw comparisons between the Winchesters and the exiled Targaryen siblings from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, with Cedrick being similar to Viserys and Odessa to Danaerys. The fan theory isn’t too wild, considering the similarities in backstory between the two sets of siblings, as well as their personalities and relative careers and ambitions.

The Sims 5 Needs to Expand on Its Lore

Considering the popularity of Game of Thrones, The Sims 5 could bring the Winchesters back with expanded content much like what it did with Bella Goth in The Sims 2, and introduce all-new lore to the series such as political intrigue, careers, dynamics, and interactions between Sims. Some fans have been asking to create their own royal family in The Sims, and while one based in real-world institutions would probably not have a wide reach, the enduring popularity of the subject and themes of royalty in storytelling could mean the Winchester siblings could become a staple pre-made family in The Sims 5.

Like other families such as the Landgraabs and the Climates in The Sims 4, the Winchesters could be expanded in The Sims 5 beyond just the two siblings, especially as an estranged royal family could be scattered with hidden connections between the members. This could become a great concept to build intrigue, and like the world of Veronaville in The Sims 2, The Sims 5 could feature a world based on the Winchester royal family, their downfall, and any other families involved in the revolution. As the lore is one of the most popular parts of The Sims, expanding on it in The Sims 5 could only be a net plus for the future of the series.

The Sims 5 is in development.
