Since sims is an open-ended game, sometimes the sims can feel lacklustre and you end up giving up on your families far too quickly. But when a sim is given a story, a back history, and direction, it gives that sim depth and you end up caring for that sim themselves. You begin to feel invested in their lives, making the game more meaningful and enjoyable. And one thing that makes the game very satisfactory, is seeing your sims lives progress onto the next generation, which for one gives your sims history, but also a sense of accomplishment.
My journey with the sims started all the way down from Sims 1 days when I remember watching my older cousins playing it. It always fascinated me watching them play, which then one day I tried it for myself, and that was the beginning of the end. From then on, sims has been a part of my life, my ‘forever game’ as I like to call it. I had to make sure to get all the expansion packs and that my computers were all spec’d out to play. Sims 2 only enhanced my love for the game, as did the Sims 3. It looked like it was just getting better and better, and my obsession never hindered. That’s until Sims 4 came along, now don’t get me wrong, Sims 4 is a great game, I love it, but when it launched, it was a major disappointment for me as it just lacked so much compared to the previous installments. That the game just felt meh to me, I just could not bring myself to spend hours playing it like I used to. So I went on strike, and for 2 years, I never played the Sims 4, and so I stuck with Sims 3.
But the day the toddler update came out, it made me give it a try again, and then the game started feeling like old times, and then slowly but surely I stuck with it, and now the game is fuller and deeper than ever, with better expansions and a lot of base game updates, it even has done certain things even better than the previous games, although it could still even now use some work, it’s definitely a game worth playing, that now I love it! 🙂
